First day jitters...

(This is not* my bed but isn't it beautiful)

So, I am almost snuggled in bed but I wanted to share my thoughts on my first day at my new job! It was such an amazing experience and everyone I met was so nice and willing to help. The people in the training class with me were so easy to get along with and I felt extremely comfortable there, like I belonged there sort of.

As I sat down at my new cubicle I couldn't believe this was my new job. I know most people think "cubicle, yuck" but it made me feel pretty grown up! Now I have to add my own personal touches to it to make it feel like home and not a boring work space! So here are some of my inspirations...

I love the simplicity of the colors but the pictures make it comfy

This inspiration board is amazing and of course orchids (duh)

Orchids + nail polish = me like!

It will definitely take some time to get situated and I won't spend a ton of time in my cube (hehe) for the next few weeks because I'll be in training classes but it's nice to get some ideas and slowly gather. I also need a nice little kit of stuff like gum, mascara, hair pins, perfume etc to keep in my desk just in case!

So much to think about!

Lust...

Hi pretties! Due to the mild winter I have been looking forward to Spring 2012 and have a found a bag...well really a wristlet that worth drooling over!

Alexander Wang $875 (finally found a picture on purseblog.com)

Harper's Bazaar February 2012

A big trend this Spring is ladylike silhouettes for outfits and bags. A "neat wristlet" as Harper's Bazaar defines it is the perfect way to incorporate this trend into your everyday life.

*sigh*

Wrap it up...

So I've been in between my last day at Coach and my first day at Kohl's for 3 days and I am realizing I will never be cut out for unemployment. I love me some relaxing and time to get pretty and pamper but I definitely prefer having something to do everyday.

In an attempt to stay busy I have found some really great textured tights that are appropriate for the "business casual" work environment. All these tights are from Forever 21 and range from $5.80-$8.80 which is not too bad.

Ribbed knit tights (offered in other colors)

Perforated heart tights

Perforated heart tights in Cream

Bow print tights (one of the two pairs I ordered)

(closer look at the detailing-offered in other colors)

Scalloped tights (the second of the two pairs I ordered)

(closer look at the detailing-offered in cream [obvi])

Forever 21 had a ton of tight options some for fun and some more formal. I am so excited for the bow print tights I cannot stand it. I also ordered a flowing tail skirt from them that I plan on wearing to work (and my days off)

I always have a weakness when it comes to Forever 21 but this time I feel that I got stuff I needed instead of a bunch of impulse buys :)

Borrowing from the boys again...

Happy Saturday pretties! Today is my last official day at Coach and it's a little bitter sweet but since I don't work until 5pm I have some time to share a new fav shoe style with you.

I know this fall the oxford was a pretty big deal but I feel like another style is silently stealing the show! The slipper loafer!! I am becoming mildly obsessed with these shoes and find that it's a lot easier to pull off than the oxford. I tended to favor the heeled oxford but I could never pull the trigger on either the heeled or flat oxford so I've found my alternative

My first pair were the leopard loafers from Candies

A recent trip to Kohl's found the same pair in black. I am going to wear these to my first day on the job at Kohl's because they'll hide my tattoos better because I don't know the policy on tats yet.

I have worn these a lot!

The velvet ones are absolutely adorable I just can't decide what color I want. A lot of big shoe designers (Aldo, Nine West etc) offer this great style. I love that you can dress it up or down and bring in more menswear into your life!

Times they are a'changin

Good morning! We all know the term "business casual" right? But how many of us actually get it right? I am going from a job with a uniform to a job that allows me to be business casual Monday through Thursday and Fridays I get to wear blue jeans (thats a whole other monster) and my head is spinning with all the options.

First headache though, I'll be commuting so most of my outfits will have to be put together in advance. Maybe I'll use Sunday nights to put together a few outfits for the week ahead. In order to make this easier I've divided my closet in two, casual clothing and work apparel. This way I'll know just where to start.

This is my first day outfit which is still like two weeks away but I mean I do still have to put together the rest of the week...

Old Navy leopard blouse

LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl's trousers
Coach London flats-walking tour

Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Katie bracelet (rose gold)

Fossil watch (rose gold)

Tiffany Elsa Peretti heart bracelet

I will be working in the bridge jewelry office while training so I feel like I need to make a good jewelry impression ;)

So what do you think?

Gimme your digits...

I'm stuck in bed today sick so before my Theraflu night time tea kicks in I wanted to post about some of my favorite nail varnish shades for Spring 2012

Broach the Subject-the perfect nude for this year.

Armed & Ready-an amazing contradiction to Spring's pastels.

Trophy Wife-This shade will transition perfectly from Spring to Summer

Turquoise & Caicos-a pretty pastel to stay on trend

Bubblegum Pink (glitter)-A perfect party color for Easter...maybe?

Yellow Brick Road-I was hoping to find a more pastel yellow but this one is great too it's not as mustard-y as Fall 2011's favorite shade but still attention getting

Primrose Hill Picnic-A good medium shade of pink

So far the shades of Spring 2012 are pretty yet surprising. A good manicure is the perfect accessory any time of year and Spring is no exception.

Til I'm out of bed-xoxo

Posh...

Pretty little morning to everyone! So after much anticipation, on my part, I finally bought my first car! I drug my father out in the snow to the dealership to not lose out on the one Chevy Cruze Eco they had in white with automatic start and chrome rims. Now I am officially in love with her. I named her Posh and here is why- Cruze...Cruz Beckham...Victoria Beckham...Posh Spice...POSH! I'm pretty clever I know.

She's home...covered in snow but she's home!

Eco- to reduce my carbon foot print.

After spending about 3 hours at the dealership (although it didn't feel like it because everyone was really nice and made us feel very comfortable) I realized if you're going to buy a car you have to wear something super comfortable. And if you're going to be test driving something it's smart to wear shoes that are easy to drive in so you can really get a feel for the car.

So what do I suggest as proper car dealership attire? A few things for the colder months of the year but first leggings, cute sweater or sweat shirt and flat boots. This way you're cozy and comfy whether you're waiting for paperwork to get finished up or test driving the car.

American Apparel cotton jersey leggings

American Apparel pull-over in almost black.

Aldo Ozaki flat boots in cognac.

Or you could swap out the leggings for denim skinnies.

For the warmer months you could wear a cute sundress but bring a cardigan just in case the air conditioning inside the dealership is on high (guys work there so it probably is) so you don't freeze. Or some cute cut off shorts with a flowy top and comfortable sandals.

This Forever 21 denim shirt dress is a great option for car shopping. It's comfortable and the rolled up sleeves keep you warm while inside.

This scalloped Forever 21 navy dress is so adorable and a good weight for car shopping.

Throw this simple Forever 21 cardigan in your bag to put on over your navy dress when you go inside for all that fun* paperwork.

Or this Forever 21 cardigan to give it a more nautical look.

Forever 21 denim cut offs

LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl's top (with peek a boo shoulders ;)
Aldo's Fickert sandals will work with all of these options.

Car shopping and buying is supposed to be fun but it's definitely a long process so the more comfortable the better. Also have your signature ready because you sign A LOT of papers! Yikes all those poor trees. So enjoy the process, be picky, and if you have a question or concern voice it because it's a big deal!

So exciting...

Hi pretties! First before I say anything else, how crazy was Pretty Little Liars this week? Oh. My. Goodness. I was scared literally the entire episode! Poor Hanna, she's too nice to be an "It girl" in high school. Spencer and Lucas talking in the attic was way creepy and Aria is so depressed her hair was a mess most of the episode (I totally understand). But Hanna looked great as always that dress she wore was  even more inappropriate than Aria's but it was so cute! And that black dress and whiskey leather jacket combo was so adorable especially with her hair up-I love Hanna with her hair up!!!

But on to some exciting news for myself...I GOT  A NEW JOB! I recently got hired (pending a background check...lol they won't find anything ;O) as a Merchandise Specialist Trainee (for the next 5 weeks then I drop the trainee part) at Kohl's Corporation! It's a really great opportunity and an amazing foot in the door to get on the Buying career path which would be a dream of mine. And if you read my blog at all you know I am a huge fan of Kohl's, especially LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl's line.

So now I'm a corporate chick working 8-5 Monday-Friday. I will be commuting an hour for now so I will be buying a more gas friendly car, I am loving the Chevy Cruze Eco in white. Everyone thinks it's funny that I want another white car but for some reason it just looks cleaner and more chic to me...weird right?

(This isn't mine because I haven't purchased anything yet but this is hopefully my near future! So cute)

I am so excited to meet some new people and take on this new adventure, but also sad to leave Coach because I will miss a lot of the people I work with. But I get to be business casual and dress up cute everyday! My head is literally spinning with all the outfits I am going to have to put together! I am thinking of putting a few together early and share them with you! 2012 is already looking like a great year!

peek-a-boo

Good morning!!! So I am ahead (or right on track) with the trend curve at the moment. And what trend is that you ask? The peek-a-boo shoulder trend. I found a really pretty dress/tunic at Forever21 that I intended to wear in the summer but I had a NYE outfit change of plans because the house we were going to was cold and my friend Kasey ditched her sequined skirt so I didn't want to be running around half naked alone. The pretty rose gold sequined dress got switched out for the peek-a-boo dress, leggings, and slippers (I said the house was cold!) But don't fret I'll find somewhere to wear that pretty little number (no pun intended).

Spring/Summer 2012 is the year of the shoulder! Tops with loose flowing sleeves that have cut outs at the shoulder are such a beautiful way for everyone to show off some skin and it's still very classy!

This is us on NYE (obvi right?) The sleeves on this dress/tunic were short but loose fitting. (Isn't Kyle pretty in the pic <3 him)

I recently ordered this top from LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl's. The color will hopefully* compliment my skin tone. The loose fit with off put the skin showing shoulders

This is another top from Lauren for Kohl's. It's super girl and pretty but you can dress it up or down if you want. Casual-denim cut-offs and sandals, Dressy-tucked into a pencil skirt with heels.

These tops are super easy to wear and a trend that will work on any body type, plus it adds a little ventilation in the warmer months and who doesn't love that?

Groundbreaking...

Hiii pretties! Symptom of working retail means I am always a season ahead. So, what's next you ask? SPRING! And with spring this year comes...pastels and florals. I know, you're probably hearing Miranda from Devil Wears Prada in your head, "Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking." But this year at New York Fashion Week Spring 2012 that is what some of the biggest designers sent down their runway. I am not a huge pastel person but this year they are done in very pretty, different ways. And after a trip to the mall my mom pointed out that I am favoring florals so I guess that's one trend this spring I am already loving!

I posted about this outfit a few days ago but this was the start of my floral love

Mulberry sent models down the runway in a pretty powdery yellow with neutral tones

Jenny Packham showed a good mix of pastels and florals. The two white dresses are to die for.

Louis Vuitton combined the two trends but the floral is more vintage than whimsical.

Marc Jacobs infused past with present but making the trend a little bit grunge. I mean lets but honest grunge is what he does best & his signature! Hello 90's

Alice & Olivia did the trend in a very girly way which is pretty much their signature.

I am not usually into this type of trend but Alice & Olivia make it very modern and not too Stepford Wives with the short hems, fitted bodice, and harem type trousers.

I am not a fan of winter this year because of the lack of snow and winter type activities (sledding, snowmen, snowball fights) so I am looking forward to spring and all that it has to offer.
