Memory lane...

Happy Saturday!! I love that I can finally say that and mean it :) So, the other day at work we took a tour of the photo studio and it was the coolest thing I've seen in such a long time!! We also learned about photo retouching and I was so happy to learn one of my absolute favorite style stars doesn't want too much of it. Hopefully, you know I mean Lauren Conrad. We actually saw a photo before retouching and after retouching and to be honest the background got more done than she did. It was so nice to know that the girl you see in those photos is actually her with just some wrinkles softened, under eye circles lightened up (who doesn't need that?) and some fly away strands smoothed.

This made me think about Lauren's red carpet style now and when The Hills first became a hit and you couldn't find a red carpet without finding Lauren. I have to say she has done an amazing  job of finding her look without too many misses in the mean time. I think we can all agree that your early 20's are for experimenting with your look and finding what works and what doesn't with a few embarrassing moments in the process. Luckily for Lauren she has done it with grace...

Aw one of the first red carpet moments for The Hills girls! Lauren looks sweet in her white dress and loose curls. (Heidi looks like a normal person still *sigh*)

Lauren looks super young here but the black dress, while safe, leaves us wanting more

Ok, I remember watching this red carpet and being very surprised by this look. I don't know if I like the look or the fact that she tried something different

Aw, pretty Lauren. This was the Oscars and she is stunning. She looks extremely comfortable and not trying too hard which is refreshing for a red carpet

I absolutely adore this look. I can never get my hair to look right in a top knot and the nude/navy combo is to die for

All of these are some of my favorite looks especially the metallic with black LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl's pumps

I think I like Lauren so much because I love her aesthetic which is already pretty, on trend, and fits like a glove. Not only that but she shares her secrets for style success which shows her character. I am a huge fan of both her line for Kohl's (which is still hugely successful) and her Paper Crown line so whenever getting ready for an event I tend to look to her for inspiration on outfits and thebeautydepartment.com for make-up and hair tips!

I guess if you take nothing else from this post take away the fact that I am mildly obsessed with our dear Lauren Conrad and think you should be too! Just kidding...but seriously!

Spring has sprung...

Happy Saturday pretties! I can't help but notice a major change in trend for the upcoming season. I feel like Spring has been about doing the unexpected in recent years but 2012 proves that designers are doing what works. It's the season for warmth, new life, and color and between the pleats, pastels and pretty florals- designers agree. Not only that but everything has gotten more girly than the menswear trend that took over our fall and winter. Don't misunderstand-blazers, boyfriend jeans, and loafers aren't going anywhere but it's the pieces you pair with them that make all the difference!

The first of these trends I am really liking are the floral pants that have sprung up in some of my favorite retailers. These can be paired with your most treasured menswear pieces to combined that mix of girly and masculine. The H&M pants are my absolute favorites so far, the colors are so vivid and pretty that you could grab anyone's attention!

LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl's floral pants

H&M floral pants (only $14.95!!)

J.Crew floral pants (these are pretty pricey $298)

Forever 21 floral cigarette pants

For work or play you can wear these pants in many different situations and still feel on trend and dressed appropriately. I actually love that designers aren't trying to reinvent the wheel this season and just stick with what works! To be honest these prints make me want to go out and buy some fresh flowers!

Chillin' on the grassy knoll...

Hiiii!! I know I know I'm the worst ever and hopefully you got my reference ^ about being a slacker. No, you say? Clueless...the movie, not you.

Moving on. I have been super busy with the new job and the second I get home I usually crash or watch my favorite show then crash. If you know me at all you would then know that tonight was Pretty Little Liars night!! And I just have to rave about Hanna's jacket in this episode!

Tory Burch Kington Boucle Tweed Jacket was $525 now on sale for $262.50

It's definitely an investment piece but it could be worth it. It's a classic fit in red and black. If you're willing to pay they only have sizes 0 & 6 left so you better hurry! I am in love and will be lusting for a great long while!

xoxo pretties!

Wu me...

Good evening pretties! How insanely good was Pretty Little Liars tonight?! I just don't know what to think about whose -A or if the person they show at the end of the episode is the same as -A! So good! Also Aria's outfit tonight was to die for and you guys know I favor Hanna but her neon wedges were divine!

Anyway, Sunday was the release of Jason Wu for Target and I have to say I was a little underwhelmed by the selection at my local Target store. But after going online I found that I wasn't really seeing anything extra special either. I think because Missoni for Target was so crazy good and uber successful I had high expectations for this release as well. Never fear though, I did get two items I am excited to wear to work!

I love this black pleated skirt. It's the perfect length for work or play

I love this shirt because I can wear it with the skirt or with black slacks for the office (I have my own cube :0) or with skinnies for play!

If you don't have time to make it out to your local Target to check out the line head over to target.com and see for yourself. Hopefully it tickles your fancy more than mine.

Highs and lows...

I feel as though I have been neglecting every other part of my life this week other than the new job. I have to say it's been a huge adjustment working Monday-Friday full time and the drive is a little brutal but I don't hate it! :) I really like what I'm doing and really see myself taking full advantage of this opportunity.

But pretties on to more important things like the high/low skirt I got from Forever 21 this week...

I wore it with black textured tights, a long sleeved black shirt tucked in with my black and grey Coach ocelot infinity scarf. I was worried I looked a little goth but I got a lot of compliments on the skirt. The great thing about this style is you never have to do the "bend over" test to make sure you're not over exposed. I have to say this might be my favorite of all the trends this Spring. So I found a few more options from Forever 21 that are absolutely adorable and very work appropriate!

This particular high/low skirt works in the sheer over-lay trend that was big this fall with maxi skirts

Cannot go wrong with red...I may order this for myself :)

The yellow is great for a Wednesday, bright color to liven up the middle of the week

This one is a little more laid back (great of a more lax office) but you can also wear it on a Sunday Funday or casual Saturday night.

I love Forever 21 because it offers trends at a great price point! None of these skirts are over $27!! Loves it! I'll be ordering a few of these.
