NYFW...The Long and Short of it

Hello pretties! New York Fashion Week is coming to a close and there was a lot to learn from the runways! First and foremost, RED is back in a big way! The Lady in Red trend was all over the runways and was a show stopper to say the least. What I love about this trend is that it takes a strong woman to wear an outfit completely in red but once you do, it becomes addicting!

If you're not ready to jump head first into this trend try working a little more of the bold hue into outfits- red denim is a great way to punch up jeans and a tee shirt or a red blazer for work or play. Try a matching red lip and you've successfully taken the Lady in Red from runway to reality.

We also learned there is nothing like a great coat, jacket, cape, or poncho. Outer wear has made a big impact on the fashion world because it pull an outfit together. Whether a polished trench or shearling and leather bomber, the right outer wear can enhance your look in volumes. From Balenciaga's faux leather woven bombers and vests to Alexander Wang's fur necked ponchos and black flowing jackets-outer wear was everywhere!

This jacket is so crazy but I love it. (Balenciaga)

The last of my favorite trends were maxi skirts that were short in front and long in the back! On the runway the trend is exaggerated by flouncy skirts but in real life there are a lot of options to make it ready to wear. At the late designer Alexander McQueen runway show, there was a lot of this trend with beautiful corseted dresses flanked by huge ball skirts that were short in front and long in back.

Fashion Week in New York City is one of the most magical times of the year and I wish I could be there but I'll just devour all the articles and magazine showcasing the best of the best and attempt to work the trends into my wardrobe!

xoxo
