NYFW...The Long and Short of it

Hello pretties! New York Fashion Week is coming to a close and there was a lot to learn from the runways! First and foremost, RED is back in a big way! The Lady in Red trend was all over the runways and was a show stopper to say the least. What I love about this trend is that it takes a strong woman to wear an outfit completely in red but once you do, it becomes addicting!

If you're not ready to jump head first into this trend try working a little more of the bold hue into outfits- red denim is a great way to punch up jeans and a tee shirt or a red blazer for work or play. Try a matching red lip and you've successfully taken the Lady in Red from runway to reality.

We also learned there is nothing like a great coat, jacket, cape, or poncho. Outer wear has made a big impact on the fashion world because it pull an outfit together. Whether a polished trench or shearling and leather bomber, the right outer wear can enhance your look in volumes. From Balenciaga's faux leather woven bombers and vests to Alexander Wang's fur necked ponchos and black flowing jackets-outer wear was everywhere!

This jacket is so crazy but I love it. (Balenciaga)

(Alexander Wang)

The last of my favorite trends were maxi skirts that were short in front and long in the back! On the runway the trend is exaggerated by flouncy skirts but in real life there are a lot of options to make it ready to wear. At the late designer Alexander McQueen runway show, there was a lot of this trend with beautiful corseted dresses flanked by huge ball skirts that were short in front and long in back.

(Alexander McQueen)
Fashion Week in New York City is one of the most magical times of the year and I wish I could be there but I'll just devour all the articles and magazine showcasing the best of the best and attempt to work the trends into my wardrobe!

Found it!

Hello again! really quickly I wanted to update you on the pictures of the cardigan and the black and white zig zag tee!

I want to wear this with black ponte pants and red heels <3

Yay! So many possibilities!

IT'S HERE!! Project Missoni for Target!

Good morning pretties! So this morning I awoke to attempt to get on the Target website and to my non-surprise the site was having "technical difficulties". So I hopped out of bed and went to the Target right down the street and picked up a few items! I am so excited about what I've got so far but I do still want candles!

The first is an open front cardigan in browns and grays. What I love about this cardigan is that it's actually quite heavy! Some of the GO! designers for Target had cute clothes but the $50 pieces didn't feel worth the price tag but this one feels worth more-I feel like I stole it or something :) I will pair this piece with jeans, leggings, or a dress with tights!

It's kind of hard to see in this pic but I will try to find a better one once Target's website is back up and running.

I also picked up a black and white zig zag tee shirt that I unfortunately couldn't find a picture of yet but it's the perfect weight for now but also in the fall under a blazer or cardigan! It's a-mazing!

Then I hopped, skipped, and jumped over to shoes praying they had the flats I have been lusting after since the fall People StyleWatch came out in August! And to my delight there they were!!!

The box for these flats is so adorable so I intend on finding a use for that, it's covered in the signature zig zag print. For those of you who weren't sure whether the line is worth the hype I can promise you it is! It's only the first day the line has been on sale so I'm excited to see what other treasures I can find. So rush over to your nearest Target and check out the line, I know the zig zag print is a little scary for some of you but I promise it's more flattering than you think! Happy shopping!

Lace...

Hello pretties! My birthday weekend was crazy and I am still trying to catch up on sleep. My BF gave me the prettiest sapphire earrings (September...sapphire...25th bday) and my parents got me Chanel VAMP and a professional nail dryer...A-mazing! I went out and got Sally Hansen lace nail applications and am currently sporting lace and VAMP...very boudoir!

To keep with the whole lace theme I recently got myself a new case for my iPhone; I have never used cases on any of my phones but I have never spent this much money on a phone before so I have to protect my investment :) I got one of Elle and Blair Fowler's cases for Cellairis! I got the one from the Lace and Leather line-the black and the nude lace cover. I have gotten so many compliments on it and I love it the only problem is since the lace is a real lace overlay there is a chance that it could come off. So for those of you thinking about investing in one of the lace cases I don't recommend leaving on your phone all* of the time. I am going to put it on for special occasions so it lasts longer! It's beautiful though!

Also do any of you feel like you're going to be lost tomorrow night without Pretty Little Liars? Well I have a vice to hold you over until it's Halloween Special Event...THE RACHEL ZOE PROJECT! It's finally back and it's so amazing!

P.S. How do you pack for Mexico and September?

No. 19

Hello pretties! I wanted to quickly write about Chanel No. 19! I received a free sample of the fragrance with my VAMP nail polish and I don't know how I feel about it yet. It has a sort of cigarette smell to it like how your very glamorous grandmother's house would smell because she sprays perfume and smokes cigarettes all day. I imagine thats how Mme. Chanel would smell herself! Definitely make your way to your nearest Chanel counter and give it a try because I just cannot tell if I'm liking it or not?! bah!

All lacquered up...

Hey! I'm one day away from my 25th birthday and I'm kind of freaking out but the show must go on I guess :( Anyway on a happier note I wanted to express some love for the 5 nail colors I will be obsessed with this fall! My top two are more recent colors for me which I've talked about both before...

The first is Chanel VAMP! The dress code at work is shades of red or pink or natural so this is the perfect red for my digits so I don't get in trouble at work. I also got Sally Hansen lace nail applications to wear with this color so it has more of a boudoir look to it!

The second is another Chanel and probably one of the craziest colors I've had in a while, it'll stay mostly on my toes. Chanel PERIDOT

The third color is from Essie called SANDY BEACH. To take a break from all the dark colors I got this nude to lighten it up a little bit. It's pretty sheer so if you like a more opaque look you might do 3 coats or do a different shade completely.

The next shade is one I am wearing whilst typing this post because it has gotten chilly in Wisconsin in the last few days so I am so excited to start dressing for the weather :)
It's Essie ChinChilly which also matches my kitty Meowf!

And last but certainly not least is one that I picked up last year from the OPI Burlesque line called SPARKLE-LICOUS! I really like the glitter and it adds some texture!

I've recently gone through my nail polish assortment and threw away colors I don't like or wear anymore (black shatter goes bad quick) and picked up a small three drawer plastic storage bin to store them all. I've organized it by brand as much as possible, I have an abundance of Essie colors so they have their own drawer but my OPIs are mixed with some random brands in the second drawer. The last drawer is tools, base, top coats, and any other nail focused products!

Saw a tree the other day with orange leaves already! YAY!

On the hunt...

Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend planned! I will be laboring all weekend long (wait a minute isn't this holiday supposed to be a break from labor?) but I wanted to talk about my latest and recently most exciting fashion find!

I have been obsessed with finding a cute, neutral, and not obnoxious faux fur vest to transition into fall. I was researching online but couldn't really find anything I loved that wasn't extremely expensive (I'm not spending a couple hundred dollars on faux fur) plus it's hard to tell online just how long it is, if the faux fur is actually soft, and not too fake looking. I have been hoping that it was just a little early in the season for them and thats why I haven't found any in stores yet. Last year ELLE for Kohl's had a faux fur vest I was tempted to buy but didn't and I thought Simply Vera Vera Wang for Kohl's would think up something but haven't seen it yet.

Yesterday I got off work early and decided to stroll on over to the Michael Kors store that just opened up at our mall and yes, it's an outlet :) No sooner do I enter the store when BAM!!! What do I spy on the back wall...faux fur vests! I B-lined it straight to the back of the store and was excited to see they were soft, the perfect length and decently priced at $119!!! I just had to decide what color- brown with black tips or grey with black tips! I decided the brown/black was more neutral because I can wear it with browns and blacks!!! I am so excited to find all sorts of things to pair it with!

I might go back next week and pick up some of their jersey long sleeved turtle necks to wear under it so I have lots of options!!! YAY ! I am just so excited! Like I've said in previous posts we're coming upon my favorite time of year so I love when I find things I know all wear a lot! <3

My birthday is only 5 days away!! I asked my parents for Chanel nail polish in their cult classic, VAMP! So hopefully I get it and if I do you'll hear all about it! Also if you're a fan of Chanel or manicures in general I recently found a pretty silly youtube video called "Chanel Shade Parade"-it's hands varnished with Chanel's polish dancing! It's hilarious! I saved it in my favorites thats how precious it is!
