Game on...

Two weekends ago I went with a great friend to game night with some of her friends and had an amazing time! There is nothing like a good board/card game to really get to know people. We often have game nights at home when hanging out with the bf's family and we always have so much fun.

So what is the perfect outfit for game night you ask? It's always something comfortable that allows you to move, Charades anyone?

A letter...

Dear bright pink lipstick-

After having woken up this morning feeling a little under the weather, now before you go on worrying about me it was just the booze flu and totally self inflicted, the mere thought of getting ready made me want to vomit. But then I thought of you, the one thing that can totally redirect everyone's attention from my tired eyes and dull skin to my bright pink lips.

Now I know what you're thinking, "Just stay at your desk and don't leave that way no one sees you". Well I tried that and wouldn't you know, I go to get water in my hobo looking outfit and unkept hair and who do I see? The CEO of my company who usually has his eyes glue to his phone but no, not on this day. It was nice to know that when he looked up and looked me directly in the face to say, "good morning" I felt fairly certain he didn't notice that my headband didn't match my scarf, that didn't match my flats, which didn't match my necklace. Oh, but the necklace matched the scarf and the flats matched the headband, do you follow?

So, thank you for always being my savior right along with your red hued counter part which as you know I save for the Summer months. I owe you big bright pink lipstick.

I have to admit that for a really long time I was unsure about these bags but I needed a giant bag to carry my heels, breakfast, lunch and other work essentials in every day so I caved. To be honest, I love it! I wish it had a few more pockets but I've just put all my odds and ends in wristlets and make-up pouches to keep myself organized. And if it's good enough for her...

Then it's definitely good enough for me!

There is nothing I love more than brunch with friends on a Sunday morning, except a mimosa Sunday brunch.

Sunday smiles...

This Sunday I bring a little wisdom, passed on from my saint of a mother! I am not devoutly religious and I can count the number of times I've been to church on both hands but I feel like my relationship with the man upstairs is still pretty solid. I don't depend on him for much, just send a "thank you" prayer after good & bad times in my daily life. I mean when you think about it, after a struggle you're inevitably a stronger person for it!

As a child my mom would always talk about the Golden Rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" and as an adult I realize just how important that is in every single relationship in my life. There is nothing that compliments a great outfit or a perfectly coifed hairstyle quite like treating people with the same respect you demand for yourself.  Thanks Mom!

Hi pretty people!! I am in the mood for some patterned shorts, now if only mother nature felt the same. My favorite thing about this trend is it goes easily from casual to edgy with the change for a shirt & shoes.

Day- a simple v-neck tee in a complimenting color with flat sandals and cross body bag

Night- Flowing spaghetti strap tank, wedges & clutch. Try mixing prints for a great night look but remember the print on top should incorporate at least one color as the shorts, otherwise it looks like you got dressed in the dark.

Good for the soul...

Hi friends!! I hope you had an amazing holiday weekend, I sure did! As you know if you read this post I spent the weekend with a few girlfriends in Door County, Wisconsin. It was so nice to be back and go to my favorite Swedish restaurant, Al Johnson's in Sister Bay; my little Swedish heart was so happy!

Girls trips are so necessary for the soul and it's always fun putting together a few cute outfits for days eating, shopping and drinking!

I recently purchase Rita Hazan hair chalk and colored the middle layer of hair for my weekend away! It lasted all the way through to Easter Sunday. Tip: use hair spray to lock in the color, otherwise it may rub off one your clothing! And don't forget my favorite Chanel sunnies came along. 

While in Door County we did some wine tasting and then drove up the peninsula to where the ferries load up the cars & tourists to go to Washington Island. We didn't stay long because it was freezing cold but I got a good picture...

Packing Tip: for weekends away make sure everything goes together and layers together. You never know what you might happen upon or when the weather will turn so layers are always your best bet, especially if you're traveling in the Midwest.
